What are your suggestions?

April 21, 2011

I am in the process of brainstorming as to what kind of content would be the most useful in the audio podcast that I want to begin sometime soon. I feel like using other language podcasts as a guide; but, this population is very very unique. So I want to ask everyone out there:

What do you want to learn in Navajo?

or rather,

What should be included in an audio podcast that would help you learn to speak the Navajo language?

Please leave suggestion as a comment or email me at

I am looking forward to any suggestions or insight.

I think a great resource for audio is made by creating handcrafted audio. These are created when you write stories, journals, etc in Navajo, correct them with a native speaker and then have a native speaker record them. Because they are written by “learners” they tend to be very good sources of comprehensible input. I have created a podcast of handcrafted audio for Turkish and people have found it quite useful. I haven’t been able to get other’s to contribute yet, but that could really be a great way to get a lot of Navajo audio up in a hurry that is specifically created for learners.
